Blog #7 Childhood toys

Dear Red Rider BB gun,

We had so many amazing adventures while I was a kid. I really enjoyed running through the fields and wooded areas near the Brazos River at the Deer lease with you, creeping  along the underbrush hunting for squirrels, rabbits, and birds to kill for dinner. I loved your solid golden oak stock, and its dark brown engraved letters. Your barrel was long and black with an open cast iron sight that helped me to aim at my prey. The lever action loading system made me feel like a real genuine cowboy. While reloading you  I always twirled you around in my hand by the lever like The Rifleman Chuck Connors shackling another round into the chamber before firing. You were a great starting gun for a young child like me just learning to hunt, and with your double safety I was always protected from accidently misfires caused by dropping a gun that could have hurt myself and others. With you I learned the many necessary techniques and lessons of gun handling that everybody should experience in life. Without you I don't think I would have ever gotten to experience life as a young outdoorsmen, nor would I have been as good at handling a gun as I am now. Thank you so much for you contributions to my life not only as a friend but as a teacher.

Sincerely,

Klayton
