Last Blog of the Year

The best thing about English II Honors this year was the class room environment. In class, you were able relax and joke around while getting your work done. It was great that Mrs. Aalbers was able to take part in the joking around and in my opinion that is what really brought the class together during group work. I think that fifth period was a great class and I am really going to miss it. The only really bad thing about class was that we didn't get to finish the year together due to this Corona virus. The essays could be challenging at times, but Mrs. Aalbers was always there to help and made it easier to understand and complete. The only thing I would have changed is what we did after each essay. Instead of jumping straight into something new, I wish we would have taken some time to look over the graded essays, and then done some grammar work. I feel that punctuation errors were the most common errors that all of us made on essays. I do not believe we learned enough about grammar this year in class.

I can't wait for my Junior year of high school. I am looking forward to getting back in the weight room and playing my first year as a starting varsity football player. I cannot wait to see all my friends and catch up on everything we missed since we had to leave. My Junior year I plan to take on level English III because I have such a heavy course load.  I am taking pre-AP pre-calculus, orchestra, power lifting, track, physics, and U.S. history honors. I really want to focus on balancing my time between extra curricular activities and school work. My sophomore year I was always burned out because I had no time to relax because I was in all advanced classes, and had to learn a foreign language. This year to help me balance I am taking a study hall. The thing that excites most about next year outside of class is showing off my hard work and dedication that I have put forth during this quarantine to maintain my strength. If I was a teacher, I would start off next year by covering as much of the curriculum as possible just in case we to go back to at home learning 2nd semester. That way students don't have to stress as much about learning new stuff on their own.

Blog #11 Serial

I was not able to start Serial at the same time the class did, and have had to play catch up, but so far Serial has been a very interesting experience. It amazes me how we can listen to somebody investigate a closed case from over twenty years ago and get commentary from the officers and other people that were caught up in the case back in 1999. It is hard for me to decide whether or not Adnan is guilty because I have not heard all of the podcast, and no nothing about the case other than what I've learned in class. With that said, I do not believe Adnan is guilty because of his character and how he reacted to his breakup with Hae. After breaking up Adnan and Hae remained friends. Blog #6 Political candidate blog

When choosing a candidate to vote for I look for someone who will represent my beliefs and stand by his word even under pressure. The perfect candidate is a person who will support small communities, outdoorsman, and will help prevent the spread of large cities. In my opinion they should promote mom and pop stores, and small home towns throughout the country, putting his countries needs before his. I also believe that I am not going to vote for a person who is egotistical or someone who is not part of the working class of America. I do not care if the candidate is a Democrat, Republican, or if they are just an independent party. I believe political parties are a big mistake. Political parties require you to agree with their beliefs, causing you to see things one sided. On top of that  members of your party can try and force their beliefs on you. Blog # 17 The downfall of Mark Spitz

The ending of Zone One really caught me of guard.  I didn't expect Mark Spitz to get infected by the plague. Nor did I expect the barricade around Zone one to fall. Mark was almost always cautious. Mark was assigned to patrol with Omega unit in Zone one. Mark and Omega unit were patrolling with Bravo unit who they met up with the day before when they became surrounded by Skels. Mark, in fear for his life ran off towards camp. While running Mark got trapped by the Skels. It shocked me that Mark was trapped and infected by the Skels just outside of the camp that was supposed to be impenetrable being destroyed by the Skels. The author decided to withhold information about the governing body being corrupted until about halfway through the book when Omega unit found out that the Lieutenant had died. I didn't find any cliff hangers at the end of any chapters throughout the book.
